An international criminal group smuggling narcotics to Russia has been busted in St. Petersburg. The criminals used caches hidden in the body frame of the truck trailer to transport the drugs. The policemen and customs officers have found 226 kg of psychotropic substance and €26 thousand.

The special services were following a MAN truck with foreign license plates carrying 2672 tablets of the psychotropic substance from Ivangorod border crossing, where it had arrived from Estonia, to a St. Petersburg customs station and then to a construction site in Siversky township of the Leningrad region. There the drugs have been transferred to Dodge Caravan with St. Petersburg license plates belonging to the leader of the organized criminal group. At that moment, the criminals have been arrested. In addition to the hashish, the caches contained €26 thousand and several phones and SIM cards. A 53-year-old Russian, 35-year-old Estonian, 34-year-old Lithuanian, and 30-year-old Belarusian have been caught red-handed while loading the drugs into the motor vehicle.
