A 35-year-old street gang member became the third person to plead guilty in Project Magot, a police investigation that resulted in the arrests of several alleged leaders of criminal organizations in Montreal, including the son of now-deceased Mob boss Vito Rizzuto.

Wesley (Calypsie) Jean-Mary was among the dozens of people arrested in November 2015, along with alleged Montreal Mafia leaders Leonardo Rizzuto, 48, and Stefano Sollecito, 49, following a probe into cocaine trafficking in Montreal. On Wednesday, Jean-Mary appeared before Superior Court Justice Marc David at the Montreal courthouse, where he pleaded guilty to his relatively minor role in the cocaine trafficking network. He admitted to being part of a conspiracy to traffic in cocaine and to being in possession of cash obtained through criminal acts.

David agreed to a joint recommendation, made by prosecutor Isabelle Masse and defence lawyer Patrick Davis, that Jean-Mary be sentenced to an overall prison term of 30 months, leaving him with one more month to serve on top of the time he has spent in prison since November 2015. Each day spent detained while awaiting the outcome of a case in Canada counts as a day and a half.
